This Privacy Policy explains how Logidemy Limited ("Logidemy", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal data in connection with the Captra application (the "App"). We handle personal data in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong.
1. Information We Collect
Teacher accounts. Name, email address and school affiliation. Accounts are created by Logidemy for participating schools; the App does not offer public registration.
Classroom audio. When a teacher enables the microphone, audio is transmitted to our servers and converted into text in real time. Audio is processed only for this purpose and is not recorded or retained.
Captions. Transcribed text is processed to produce readable captions and translations, and is delivered in real time to devices in the same session. Caption content is not retained.
Usage information. Session records (the teacher who opened a session, the time, the number of participants and the languages used) and aggregate service metrics, which do not include caption content.
Students. Students join a session with a session ID and do not provide any personal data.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information above solely to provide, operate, maintain and secure the App, to support participating schools, and to monitor service performance and costs. We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising or tracking.
3. Disclosure to Service Providers
We engage third-party service providers, including cloud hosting, speech recognition, language processing and translation providers, to operate the App. These providers process data only on our behalf and only as necessary to provide their services. Some providers may be located outside Hong Kong, and data may therefore be transferred to and processed in other jurisdictions. We may also disclose information where required by law.
4. Data Retention
Teacher account information is retained while the account remains active and is deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period after the account is closed. Session records and service metrics are retained only as long as necessary for operational and accounting purposes.
5. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse, including encrypted connections and restricted access to our systems.
6. Children
The App is intended for use in schools under the supervision of teachers. Participating schools are responsible for providing any notices to students and parents required under their own policies. Students are not required to provide personal data to use the App.
7. Your Rights
You may request access to, or correction of, your personal data held by us by contacting us using the details below. We will respond in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be published at this location with a revised effective date.
